Although, the core of my job as a BDR is deeply human, I can’t deny many parts of it can be fully automated. At Databricks we use Outreach for sequencing: creating (half-)automated sequences of steps (emails/calls) for inbound and outbound prospecting.
The tool is alright, but all the content is generic. It’s written when the sequence is defined or amended during the execution of the step. This latter editing step takes a lot of time. I have to improve on a generic template I wrote weeks or months ago and tailor it to the prospect.
Can this initial template be better?
I surely suspect so: we have all the activity data of past interactions with this prospect on our Lakehouse. In addition, we can find and ingest any relevant signals (LinkedIn posts, promotions, news articles) from the web. With this information we can design much more tailored sequences.
I don’t believe we can fully automate outbound prospecting - no matter how good AI gets. I suspect humans will recognize purely AI-generated content.
However, having a tailored starting template will massively speed up my step-editing, allowing me to send out more tailored outbound message faster.
Outreach doesn’t integrate fully within Databricks. I’ll have to build my own app natively on Databricks that integrates with Salesforce and our Lakehouse. The good thing is that I have access to a production workspace with all the features of Databricks and pretty much an unlimited amount of tokens for Genie Code. Can I really build this?
Only one way to find out…
