The biggest challenge of my BDR job, or any Tech Sales role for that matter, is making enough time for RGAs (Revenue Generating Activities). Our employers, although well-intended, seem to be hellbent on filling up our calendars with busywork that does not consist of:
- Talking to prospects
- Preparing to talk to prospects
Busywork is the opposite: activities that feel like “work”, but ultimately don’t create new pipeline nor drive existing one.
For instance, I’m drafting a marketing newsletter for a Dutch insurance company. Don’t get me wrong - this activity will yield massive benefits in the future over the long term. But drafting this newsletter sure takes up a lot of time.
Well, not anymore really. Using Claude I can now automatically fetch relevant events, product releases, articles, and let the agent weave them into a nicely formatted newsletter.
I did all of that during a meeting.
In practice, this means that I’m not squeezing all my admin and busywork into the meetings I can’t escape from, leaving me with ample time for my RGAs.
While some people complain of AI-burnout, I feel it makes my enterprise job so much more enjoyable.
