The verdict is in: AI did not make me more productive. Yet. I burned over 1000 USD in tokens (having access to a Claude enterprise seat through Databricks). Some tasks definitely became easier: I’m automating a lot of admin in Salesforce.

However, the liberated time got filled up by other low-value work. The actual core of my work, the part that creates value for my company, did not meaningfully improve. AI can’t send a good email to a prospect nor can it cold call prospects. This is the part of the job that can only be done well by myself, and that costs me the most energy to do.

The bottleneck for this work is my energy and focus. I’ve felt that watching over bots ans AI, steadily sap away more of my energy. At the end of the day, I still have to pick up the phone and make the calls. Speeding up all the peripheral tasks around it, is only pseudo-productivity. It doesn’t impact the bottom line.
